The holidays are here.

We have now reached the end of a busy and eventful half term. Everybody is looking forward to a holiday, but we will all be back ready to go again on Monday 10th March.

We will be fitting lots into the next relatively short half term, starting with a Book Fair on Tuesday 11th February. The books will be in Class 7 from 08.30 – 16.30 and all classes will visit the fair with their teachers. Your child(ren) may like to bring some money to spend, or alternatively you are welcome to come in and help them choose a book. As usual all we will buy books for the library from the commission we make from the money you spend. So all of the children will benefit from the money raised.

There will also be a PTA Meeting on that day (Tuesday 11th). It will start at 13.45, but its location has not yet been decided, as they usually take place in Class 7. The PTA have been very busy again this week, and have finished organising and tidying all of their resources. We would like to thank them for all the time and effort they have put into this. Now we have to make sure that the school’s resources are kept neat and tidy too!

The week then continues at pace, with World Maths Day on Wednesday 12th March. As you are already aware we will be using a box of Smarties to develop mathematical skills and concepts from Bear’s Cave to Class 7. Please remember that your child(ren) should come to school dressed in their favourite Smartie colour on that day. The colours to choose from are: blue, red, yellow, orange, green, purple, pink and brown. This will be a day dedicated to Maths of all kinds and I am sure that we will have plenty to tell you about after the event.

The fun will continue for Class 5 on Thursday. For the Entry Point of their new Unit of Work, Footprints From the Past they will be going to visit the Natural Science Museum. Whilst Class 5 will just be starting a new Unit, Class 3 will be ending theirs with their well-anticipated Houses Exhibition. It is certainly going to be a busy time for them.

Thank you to everybody that has now confirmed their Student Led Conference appointments. During the first week after the holidays the children and their teachers will also be preparing for this important event. We would like to remind you that if you would like to have the opportunity to discuss your child(ren)’s progress following this celebration of their learning, there will be Parent/Teacher Consultations the following Tuesday (25th March). If you haven’t already put this date into your diary, you might like to do that now.

As you can see there are lots of reasons to make sure that you rest during the holiday if you can, we will all need plenty of energy afterwards.

Enjoy the holidays.

Best Wishes,

The Leadership Team.
