We have come to the end of a gloriously sunny week, which has meant that everybody has been in even more high spirits than usual. It was lovely to see that the Bear’s Cave children were the first people to have P.E in the garden in the sunshine in 2014!

We were very happy to welcome four new children to BEPS after the half term holiday. This means that there are two new friends for the children in Bear’s Cave and new boys in both 2B and 3G. We would like to welcome them and their families to BEPS and hope that they are settling in well.

The week has been busy and started with the Book Fair on Tuesday. Thank you to everybody that came and visited it and bought books. As always the children were very happy deciding what to spend their money on and then to share their purchases with anyone that they could. Oonagh our librarian chose some new books for the library with some of the commission we made and also by using some of the money that was raised by the Teacher’s Cake Sale on BEPS Book Day. If you’d like to know more about these I am sure that she will be happy to tell you more.

On Tuesday evening the Class 7 parents came into school to find out more about the forthcoming Class 7 Exhibition. As you may already know this is a special part of the class 7 curriculum that involves lots of hard work. The Class 7 students will be asking for your support next week when they announce what they are going to be learning about, so please watch this space!

Everybody had great fun on Wednesday when we celebrated World Maths Day. You would be amazed to see how many different Maths activities are hidden in one small box of Smarties. We know that the children enjoyed eating the Smarties too!

If you haven’t already heard about the learning and fun from your child(ren) you will be sure to hear about it from their teacher when you receive your new weekly e-mail from them.

Class 3 have been particularly busy this week. They have been preparing for their famous houses exhibition, which took place on Thursday afternoon. You will be able to see their amazing models in the Entrance Hall, but be sure to ask them about them because they are very knowledgeable and will be very happy to share all they know with you. Well done to them all, and to Ms. Guille and the other teachers that supported them throughout the process.

The children from Class 5 went off to the Natural History Museum on Thursday too. They went to see the dinosaurs to help them with their Unit of Work called Footprints from the Past. They seemed to have enjoyed themselves greatly and it will have encouraged them to find out lots more for sure. Thank you to the parents that went along with the classes and their teachers, without your support trips such as these can’t take place.

Next Thursday (20th March) Class 1 will be having their Cake Sale. As always the cakes will cost 1€ each and so you might like to bring some money to spend on that day. Please bring in your donations of cakes and cookies into school in the morning or take them straight out into the playground at the end of the day. Thank you in advance for your support.

Whilst we are talking about dates please make sure that you keep Wednesday 2nd April free if at all possible. On that day we will be getting out the BEPS catapult for the 2014 Spring Fling. You’ll be receiving a letter about this, but you will need to be thinking about your designs for containers to stop a raw egg from breaking when it is catapulted from the terrace into the garden. This year we will have a football World Cup theme, so get your thinking caps on. More information will follow.

Unfortunately parking at the back of school has been proving financially hazardous for people recently. The police seem to be targeting the area, and so please ensure that you are being cautious and following the parking restrictions or you could be the unfortunate recipient of a fine.

We are looking forward to seeing everybody at the Student Led Conferences next Tuesday (18th March). Please remember that your child(ren) only need to be in school at their appointment time(s) and that there is not the usual school hours on that day. It is a great day so please allow time to visit the specialist classrooms too if you possibly can.

Have a good weekend.

Best Wishes,

The Leadership Team.
