Some significant people visited BEPS today! Other news and information.

We have reached the end of our first five-day week since before the Easter holidays. To bring it to a conclusion we had some surprise visitors in Upper School assembly this afternoon. Unfortunately the Class 4 children seemed to be otherwise occupied, which was a pity as they would have been very happy to meet the group of significant people that came to spend some time with us. Our visitors ranged from Queen Elizabeth, Johann Sebastian Bach, Alexander Pushkin, Jesse Owens and Barack Obama to Ole Kirk Christiansen the inventor of Lego. They all told us lots of information about themselves and made us want to find out more about them too. There was some great singing and piano and violin playing as well.

The rest of Upper school have assured us that they will tell the Class 4 children all about these people though to help them with their Unit of Work all about significant people. Thank you to everybody that was involved it was fantastic.

After receiving some comments about the hot lunches that are brought into BEPS, we have decided to set up a Catering Committee to look into this further. We already have two parents to start the group, but would like to have another two or three people to join them. If you would be interested in joining this group, please let Ms. Hertay know.

We are also happy to announce that we will now be recycling paper at BEPS again. Each class will have a yellow bag for collecting their paper in their classroom. We would also like to remind you that you can bring in your old batteries and ink cartridges and put them into the recycling container in Dominique’s office.

We would like to ask the people that stay to enjoy the sunshine after school to help us by ensuring that their children remember how to be safe in the playground and garden when school is over. Children should not climb in the trees or bushes and shouldn’t go into the greenhouse.  If they use any of the equipment, which is on the terrace then it should be replaced properly after use.

We would also like to remind you, that for security reasons, the doors into school should not be left open at any time. Please close them when you have entered the building. The door into school on the terrace is only to be used by the Pre-school children when their teachers accompany them, and will remain locked at all other times. Please use your tag to gain access to the building via the side door. Tags are available from Dominique with payment of a 20€ deposit.

Our lost property box is currently overflowing. Please help us to keep it under control by checking to see if there is anything that belongs to your child(ren) in it. Please help us to reunite lost items with their owners by making sure that all items are clearly marked with your child’s name. Thank you very much for your support in all of these matters.

Next week there are some special events to look forward to. On Wednesday morning Classes 1 and 3 are going to the puppet theatre to support their Units of Work. On Thursday  (15th May) there will be the last Cake Sale of the academic year when Bear’s Cave will selling cakes and cookies at the end of the school day. Thursday is also the day of the Class 7 Exhibition, which they have been working hard towards over recent weeks. Their families, friends and invited guests will be seeing the outcome of their learning on Thursday evening, and the rest of the school community will be invited to view it on Friday and anytime after that.

Finally, please remember that we will be celebrating our BEPS International Day on Thursday 22nd May. You will have received a letter requesting your support for this, and although the deadline for replying has gone, we would still appreciate your help. Please return your form on Monday, or if you have any questions, come and talk to us and we will be able to give you more information. It is always a great day and gives us the chance to find out more about the many different cultures that come together to make our school such a special place. Thank you.

Enjoy the weekend, particularly all of the Mums who should be able to have a lovely relaxing day on Sunday. Happy Mother’s Day to you all.

Best Wishes,

The Leadership Team.
