December is just around the corner!

We have completed the first full week at BEPS since Half Term, and as usual the children have learnt lots.

The week started with the excitement of hearing that Ms. Guille had given birth to her baby. She and Amin are both doing well, and we know that you join us in congratulating her and her partner.

On Tuesday four teachers from the International School of Arnhem visited us. They came to see the good practice that takes place in our school and joined our staff meeting at the end of the day.

Class 4 were lucky enough to visit the Temple du Chocolat Cote d’Or yesterday. As well as seeing how chocolate was made in their factory, they also learnt about the history of chocolate and chocolate production. They even had the opportunity to make their own bar of chocolate and design the wrapper for it. They returned to BEPS not only with this chocolate but also with a bag of other chocolate goodies.

Next week we will already be in December, and we know that it always brings plenty of excitement with it. Ms. Hertay will be meeting with St. Nicolas on Monday. He will be checking to see if the children have been working hard and behaving well. If this has been the case he may well make a return visit later in the week.

On Tuesday the Book Fair will be in school. As usual all of the children will visit with their teachers, and so they may want to bring some money to spend. You are also welcome to visit throughout the day. Please drop by if you can.

We were sorry to have to say goodbye to An from Pre-school today. She is leaving BEPS as she and her family are moving to the USA. We wish them all the best of luck in their new venture, and hope that she will stay in touch with us. Her replacement will start as soon as she has all the necessary paperwork.

Preparations for the Winter Concert are now underway and all of the children will be busy practicing from now on. We have concerns regarding the plans for the rehearsal for the concert as our rehearsal day in the University theatre is on Monday 15th December, which is the day of the proposed Belgian General Strike. After great consideration we have decided to keep the schedule for that day. Therefore school will be open as usual and the rehearsal will take place even if it may have to start a little later.

However this will mean, on Tuesday the Concert will start at 14.00 instead of the previously announced time of 10.30 a.m. The show will certainly go on, and the children will be as brilliant as usual!

Thanksgiving has been celebrated by some of our families. We hope that they have had a lovely time with their families and friends.
