The week is already over

The second week of term seems to have rushed by. This has probably been a result of all the learning that's been taking place, and the excitement of having a visitor in school.

On Tuesday Courtney Campbell spent the day at BEPS. She entertained the Early Years and Class 2 and 3 with her songs and story telling and extended this to some writing workshops for the Upper school classes. In these the children were introduced to the concept of a ‘Bing Book’ to note down all their ideas. They can use these at a later date to help when they write stories or be creative in any way. The children were full of ‘bings’ and are still keen to add to their books. We are sure there must be some budding authors amongst them, and who knows but some of these ‘bings’ may be as big as Harry Potter one day! Thank you again to the PTA for funding this opportunity for the children.

Yesterday evening the cosy dinner, which the PTA organised, was enjoyed by parents and teachers alike. It was a great evening with good food and company. We would like to extend a special thank you to Cindy and Hilary for organising this. We hope that they will arrange another event for us to look forward to soon.

Parents of children in Classes 2-7 should have received an invitation to an information evening about the International Primary Curriculum (IPC), which will take place on Tuesday (20th January). It will run from 18.30 – 20.00. If you have not yet replied to this invitation, please do so on Monday. It will be a good opportunity to learn about the curriculum your children follow. We look forward to seeing you.

We have decided that it will be a good idea to combine our forthcoming BEPS International Day with International Mother Language Day. For this reason this special day will now take place on 27th February. More information regarding this will follow soon to ensure that we all have plenty of time to prepare for it. This is bound to be an amazing day when we will be able to celebrate all the different nationalities our school reflects.

Other dates for your diary

Tuesday 27th January – Presentation on the introduction of Class 8 in BEPS and the curriculum it will follow.

Tuesday 10th February – Student Led Conferences. Please remember that you and your child(ren) only need to be in school at their appointment time(s) and that there are not the usual school hours on that day. Appointment times and more information will follow.

Monday 16th – Friday 20th February – Half Term Holiday.

Finally, but very importantly, we would like to reassure you that in light of recent events we are being particularly vigilant at all times. Please help us by ensuring that you close all gates and doors when you use them, and by reporting anything unusual or that gives you cause for concern to us immediately. A meeting to discuss ways of increasing security still further will take place on Monday, and you will be informed of any decisions that are taken.

There are lots of things happening next week; Classes 2 and 6 are out on trips and Class 7 will be announcing the results of their toilet and playground campaigns to name but a few.

Have a relaxing weekend in readiness for the week ahead.

Best Wishes,

The Leadership Team
