It's the weekend already

It's hard to believe that the week is already over it only just seems to have begun. There has been plenty of learning taking place. The children from Class 3 and above have been thinking about their brains, how they learn and the ways that they can improve their learning skills. Ask them to find out about what they have discovered so far. This was reinforced for the Lower school in their first assembly of the year this afternoon. Ms. Hertay talked with them about knowledge, skills and understanding and what these are and examples of them. You will find a document from the IPC explaining how you can help your child by using these terms with them at home. If you have not read it before please do so.

Yesterday the Lower and Upper School children were lucky enough to have an unexpected Music workshop. A pianist and violinist played for the children and led Upper School through a journey of the history of Music. Lower School heard the story of Beethoven. They all enjoyed the experience and it was great to hear them answering and asking so many questions.

We are sure that you have seen that the climbing wall in the playground is being well used by the children. Although we have talked about how it should be used and they have been using it carefully and safely during the school day, we have seen that some of them are forgetting how to do this after school. In order to ensure that they are using it safely at all times please can you remind them that they must climb along it not up it, and that they must start from the left and go across to the right. They must wait patiently for their turn and not push in front of others. Thank you for your support.

We would also like to ask for your support in ensuring that the gate at the back of school is always closed. We have a locking mechanism on it to ensure that the children are safe when they are playing in the playground. Whenever you enter or exit through the gate, please close it behind you. Do not leave it open for somebody that is further down the road, they will be able to use their own tag to open it when they reach it. If you do not have a tag, please go to Dominique to get one as soon as possible. This will also allow you to enter through the side door of the main building.

Next Thursday (24th September) the Book Fair will be in school. For those of you that are new to BEPS this gives the children (and you) the opportunity to buy some English reading material. The children will visit the Book Fair during the day with their class teacher and so may like to bring some money to spend. You can also visit before and after school. As well as this being a good opportunity for your child(ren) to buy a new book it is also good for the school because we are able to purchase books from the commission that is made from your purchases. We select books to go into the school libraries so that everybody can enjoy them. We look forward to seeing you there.
