Thank you for joining us at our Parent/Teacher Consultations on
Tuesday. We hope that you found them informative and enjoyed having the
opportunity to look at some of your child’s learning too. Please remember that
you do not have to wait for such opportunities to talk about your child with
their teacher, they are always happy to arrange a time to meet with you to
discuss their progress
Over the past two weeks Class 1 have continued to have visits from parents linked to their Unit of Work ‘Families and Friends’. Bibhushan's Mum came in to talk about Dashain a celebration that is observed by people from Nepal in October. Keerthini's Mum, explained how they celebrate Diwali. She showed pictures of her family wearing traditional clothes, lighting fire crackers, making pongali and eating delicious sweets and snacks. The children were also very happy to have the opportunity to taste Gulab Jamun an Indian dessert. Thank you to them both for giving up their time to come and share their experiences with the children.
This afternoon Class 3 went on an autumnal walk in the woods. They all came prepared for the occasion by wearing their wellington boots. They went across to the woods and collected leaves and seeds from the trees. They also found many other signs of Autumn including toadstools, berries and leaves. They all really enjoyed their walk and came back safely.
Class 2 led Lower School Assembly today with a Nursery Rhyme Performance. They shared rhymes in English and their Mother Tongue, which Class 3 were really happy to join in with. We hear that there is video evidence that may be shared later. Well Done to them all.
We were very happy to award our first Golden Certificates of the year today. From the start of the year the children have been concentrating on the Golden Rule ‘We are good friends’. Congratulations to the children that earned this award. The next Golden Rule we will be thinking about is ‘We take care of property’.
Now is the time to start thinking about next week. Of course the highlight of the week will be our Halloween fun on Wednesday. You should have received a letter in your child’s Blue Bag today telling you all about this. We are looking forward to some spooky fun, to seeing the children dressed up and lots of pumpkins appearing in the garden.
On Thursday the children will come to school dressed very differently as that is the day when the photographer will be in school. Let’s hope that all signs of Halloween face paint will have washed off by then!
If your child has lost an item of clothing this half term we will be displaying the lost property on the terrace at the back of school next week. Please come and take a look to see if there is anything you recognise there. Any items that are not claimed by the end of the week will be donated to Les Petits Riens.
