Winter Fair Success!

We have just finished counting the money that was raised at the Winter Fair this afternoon. We are amazed at the fabulous amount of 1344 Euros. Thank you to everybody that came and supported the event, but particularly to the children and their teachers for the hard work that they put into creating such wonderful items to sell. We know that Nativitas will be equally as amazed and very grateful for this addition to their funds. Once again we have shown that by working together we can really help others. Thank you.

Earlier this week Janice Ireland an Early Years Consultant spent time with our Pre-School and our Class 1 teachers. She came as part of their professional development and is supporting them in ‘looking for learning’.

On Tuesday evening we held an information evening for parents to inform them about Class 8 and how the children in this Class learn. We were happy to see so many people attending and hope that you all found it worthwhile. For people who were interested but unable to attend, please contact Ms. Hertay for further information.

Classes 1 – 3 had their first rehearsal for the Winter Concert on Tuesday, and on Monday we will have the first run through for the whole school. Now that preparations for the Winter Fair have been completed we can turn our full attention to this next important event.

We are hoping to have a visit from St. Nicholas next week. As long as the children have been good, we should be seeing him on Tuesday.

From Monday we will be collecting donations of food for the Nativitas food drive. These items are used to make food parcels that can be delivered to people in need.

They need nourishing food that doesn’t go bad easily, so please do not send in fresh fruit or vegetables as these may spoil before they are delivered. Nativitas has also asked if we can avoid sending cans with one meal in, such as ravioli. This is because they support many different groups of people from different cultures with many different dietary requirements. Suggested items are:

·      Canned items such as fruit, vegetables, fish and soup

·      Items in cartons that don’t require refrigeration such as soup, juice and long life milk

·      Cereal of any kind and dried pulses such as lentils or chickpeas

·      Pasta, rice, barley, couscous and dried potato flakes

·      Coffee, sugar, jam or Nutella

·      Biscuits, chocolate and canned desserts like rice pudding

·      Oil

Please bring in your donations and put them in the entrance hall. Thank you in advance for your support.

Our Christmas Tree will be put in place next week. To decorate this, we would like each child to bring in a decoration to hang on the tree. This year we would like it to be either a star or a snowflake. We think that it would be really great if these could be home made, not just ones you have bought. They won’t be hung on the tree until Wednesday but your child(ren) can bring them in before if they have them ready.

Dates for your diaries:

Tuesday 6th December – St. Nicholas

Wednesday 21st December – Winter Concert (10.30 a.m.)

Friday 23rd December – School finishes at 12.30 for the Winter Holiday

Monday 9th January 2017 – School restarts

Enjoy the weekend.

Best Wishes,

The Leadership Team
