The first week of school is now over and the snow means that
everybody is looking forward to a wintery weekend.
It hasn’t taken the children long to get back into the swing of learning and so it has been a productive week. Many classes started new IPC Units of Work and as a result there are three trips organised for next week. These will start on Tuesday when Class 3 are visiting the Magritte Museum to link with their unit on Famous People. Class 4 are exceedingly lucky and will be making their way to the Cote d’Or chocolate museum and factory on Wednesday, we wonder if you can guess what they are learning about? On Thursday Class 2 are going to the Ligue Braille to experience what it is like to be partially sighted or blind as they are learning about their senses. Finally, Class 8 will most probably be heading off to the Ardennes for two days to enjoy some winter sports. They are definitely hoping that the snow will continue.
The excitement carries on into the weekend when the PTA are holding their Winterland Party. This will be from 4 – 7 p.m. Please make sure that you read all the information they send you carefully to ensure you don’t miss any of the fun.
In this snowy weather, please can you ensure that your children come to school dressed appropriately. They need strong footwear such as snow boots or wellington boots to avoid slipping and getting wet feet, and water-repellent gloves if they hope to play with the snow. If they are not dressed appropriately they will not be able to go and play outside when the snow is the right kind of snow to play in.
As you are very aware the work in Avenue Victoria has started. However, during the Winter Holiday we received some rather unfortunate news. Although we were initially informed that the work would last one month we were sent a letter telling us that it is now expected to last until the middle of March. We know that this situation is creating difficulties for you all and thank you for your patience.
Dates for your diaries:
Saturday 21st January –BEPS PTA Winterland Party (16.00 – 19.00)
Tuesday 31st January – Student Led Conferences (Children only need to be in school at their appointment time. These times will be sent home on Monday)
Tuesday 21st February International/Mother Tongue Day (Save the date as we will be asking for volunteers to come in to school to share their cultures with us).
Finally, we would like to take this opportunity to wish any of you that we have not seen a very happy 2017.
