This week has been full of activity and as you will see parents have played an even more important role than usual.
Thank you to everyone that attended our Parent/Teacher Consultations on Tuesday. It is always good to have the opportunity to talk with you about your children, and we hope that you found the meetings useful too. If you were unable to attend, please contact your child’s teacher to make an appointment. Our Secondary School held similar meetings yesterday.
As you are all aware, in recent weeks, there was a devastating earthquake in Indonesia. At BEPS we try to provide charitable support on three levels (local, global and in response to unexpected needs). As a result we would like to offer some support to the people in Indonesia that were affected by the earthquake. As one of our members of staff is from Indonesia she has been in touch with the Embassy to enquire about a cause we could support. They have suggested Consortium 12-12, which we will look into. However, as we are already asking for your support with the Halloween Party and the Relay for Life next week, we have decided to organise a Cake Sale to raise money for Indonesia after the Half Term holiday. More information will follow.
We were very lucky to have lots of parents around school this week. Arthus’ Mum came into Pre-School to share her knowledge and experience with the children. They loved learning about babies and what they can and cannot do.
Oliver’s Dad came into Year 4 to talk about Iceland and its many volcanoes. The children were fascinated to learn about how the people of Iceland have adapted to living so close to volcanoes.
Finally, Year 3 held their Water Walk on Wednesday, and the children were joined by a large number of parents to walk with the water they would need for a day. This was to help them understand what it is like to have to carry water rather than just turn on the tap. As this was a sponsored event they will be sending a donation to Water Aid. As soon as we know the total raised we will let you know.
We would like to thank all of these parents for supporting the children’s learning, it is always greatly appreciated.
Year 1 presented their first assembly this afternoon. They talked about their dream jobs and even dressed for the occasion. Well done to you all.
The BEPS Halloween Party is approaching quickly and the anticipation for the event is rising. We would like to clarify that everybody attending the party will need to have purchased a ticket. This includes adults as well as children.
The Relay for Life is also almost with us. If you would like to support us by baking some cakes or cookies for us to sell at the event, please bring them into school on Friday. You can still join the team or make a donation if you wish. https://www.relayforlife.be/teams/beps-international-school-0.
Next Thursday, we will be celebrating World Maths Day at BEPS. The children will spend the day playing Maths Games. The Upper School children will also be designing and making Maths games to share with their buddies.
Next Friday, Year 1 are off to the farm for the day. They are sure to have lots to talk about on their return, so watch this space.
